Rapha’s Update
Hey all!
It’s been a while since I last updated! It’s been a pretty hectic two months and is now already September. Unbelievable… A tremendous chunk of my time has been dedicated to improving my skills in tennis, including working with three different coaches, each focusing on different aspects of my game and was playing seven times a week up until just recently, now that my league team’s season is over. Since my last update, I’ve won a 2.5 Singles tournament, reached the Consolation Finals in a 3.0 tournament, and played at Sectionals in Portland, Oregon (unfortunately our team lost), and just yesterday played an epic 2+ hour 3-set, no advantange match in a tournament where I lost 7-6 (9-7 tie-break), 7-5 in the 3.0 tournament.
Now that I understand so much of my own game from what my coaches taught me, each match has been helping me to really take the experiences to heart and build on it and I feel well-prepared for the tournament next week. This will be my last tournament for a while until the pre-season starts up again in late November, so you can bet I won’t be holding back anything, which is another aspect of my game I’ve been learning to do.
I also took some vacation to visit my family in Virginia and they also came to the Seattle area to visit and help me move into my new apartment (much closer to work and everything!). The extra 10-15mins of sleep a day makes a huge difference! Things have been going well at work and we recently released an update to the Xbox, which everyone seems to have been enjoying. I am working hard on even more new and exciting stuff, which I can’t talk about here, but it will be worth the wait so be patient! =)
As far as game development goes, my little brother has been learning Maya at a summer camp he attended this past month and he is very talented so I’ve got him working on creating some content for me for a new game we are making. I’ll have some more updates once the game is more fully complete but it is just now turning into a playable, fun game so it shouldn’t be too long. We got my brother a few books to teach himself Maya from and hopefully he will put them to good use, but I also picked up a few books as well and have been honing my own 3D modeling skills a bit too. Maybe it will help me with the materials and lighting, which are always tough to get right; especially with skin and organic material.
That’s all for now. The first week of the U.S. Open is now coming to a close and exciting matches are happening everywhere, including Nadal’s win tonight over Kiefer.
